The “Kapetanova kuca” was opened on 1 September 1986 and back then it was a family tavern. It is owned by Kralj family, one of the oldest families in Mali Ston. The restaurant offers specialties of the Mali Ston Bay exclusively, and includes a large winery of Peljesac wines.

Famous for oysters and sea food, Restaurant "Kapetanova kuća" is one of the best known “temples” of south Dalmatian cuisine! 

HOTEL "OSTREA"  Ostrea Hotel was built by re-constructing of the old house of the Kralj family, who manages and runs it continuously. It opened its doors to guests in 1998. The hotel is a part of a facility with an exquisite construction style and surroundings. It is located nearby the “Kapetanova Kuca”, is owned by the same owners and provides a marvellous natural atmosphere.

Initiator and main creator of the whole story is Mr. Ante Kralj, who unfortunately is no longer amongst us, but his ideas have continued in a successful existence and realisation by his brother Zeljko, his wife Lidija and the rest of the family. Ms. Lidija Kralj is a famous designer of all gastronomic delicacies that can be tasted in the two facilities of ours.

• 2003 state prize awarded by Vecernjakova Turisticka patrola (Tourist Patrol by Croatian magazine Vecernjak),
• Amongst 100 top Croatian restaurants for years, amongst top 20 on the Adriatic Sea
• Ms. Lidija Kralj was awarded chef of the year in 2005. by the branch and consumers of ‘Svijet u casi’ (World in a Cup), the same years she is awarded a plaquette for contribution to reputation and promotion of the DUBROVACKO – NERETVANSKA ZUPANIJA in the country and world for the previous period,
• wins Chef Knight title in “Kruske i jabuke” (Pears and Apples), a TV series; appears in every show,
• participates in “U istom loncu” (In the Same Pot), and stars on DUKAT products on its TV commercial.
